Aspen's Favorite Things
In the last four months that Aspen has been a member of our household, we've learned a bit about his favorite things. It's such a quirky little collection I thought you'd get a kick out of them as well.
1) Anything with a motor...he loves to watch airplanes fly overhead, will sit down on his walk to watch a car back out of a driveway, and was completely mystified by the gas powered leaf blower that a gardener had left running in a yard. He looks at the object in question with a focused tilt to his head...as if trying to figure out what it is, why it is, and how it works.
2) Anything that has to do with cottage cheese...from the day he arrived home he's gotten excited about the cottage cheese container coming out of the fridge. He leaps for joy when I have cottage cheese, when he gets cottage cheese, and when he gets the empty container to clean out. His favorite toy - cottage cheese containers...they make great sounds as they roll erratically about the patio. (Don't worry, we pull them when they crack.)
3) Grocery bags. He carries them around with the handles in his mouth with a certain pride in his step. This afternoon he manage to drag the grocery bag into the living room with about six cans of food still in it.
4) Leaves...leaves blowing along the ground are best. If you are at the other end of the leash...watch out...if a leave blows in the vicinity he's going to lunge at it!
5) Birds and squirrels...he's just discovered these moving critters in the yard and on our walks. Whether he sees them or hears them, he'll pause, watch closely, and then try to figure out how to get to them. Of course by then, they are long gone. Amazingly enough, he doesn't bark to signal his delight in the critters. We are grateful for that habit of his!
6) Snails...squished ones are best...yep...he likes to eat these. UGH!
7) Ivy...he loves a bed of ivy. He'll hop through it and then plop down in the sea of green. One of these days I'll get a picture of this...
I'm sure we'll discover more of Aspen's delights over time. I'll share more as we become privy to his idiosyncracies.
Aspen is definitely one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen!!! Here's a photo of him and Carol on my blog:
